- birding:
I have this bird book I've had since college. It has my life list in it. I got to enter several new sightings, when I was at Tule Lake, this summer. - cats:
Life is not complete unless you're owned by several cats. It's also one of the nonhuman dialects I speak, though only rudimentarily. (Others are crow and squirrel.) - cookbooks:
I read them like novels. Also good references for Living History (see #7 on this list). How many do I have? Um, I measure by the running yard, now? I think I have about 12 yards worth. - folk rock:
Tempest is at the top of the list, followed by the late lamented Phoenyx, but with a lot of others following closely. - hiking:
Favorites:
Castle Rock, a ~6 mile loop that hits some of the best stuff, including Summit Rock, Loghary Woods, Goat Rock, and the waterfall.
South Grove, Calaveras Big Trees: it's worth the 3 1/2 mile (one way) hike in to see giant sequoia in their natural habitat. - iron chef:
The Original. Subtitles, no dubbing, as originally carried on the local Bay Area station. Sakai Rules! - living history:
So many programs, so little time. But the best are early California/Californio. Must cook Californio food! - roses:
Older varieties, though Austin and MacGredy roses are good, too. And okay, I love Sutters Gold, even though it's a hybrid tea. Back when I had more time, I used to help with the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden, too. - textiles:
Ack, it's an addiction, I tell you, an addiction! It ranges from kimono to vintage clothing to fabrics. It's all good. - weapons:
It started with swords (or maybe my first air rifle?), but it's out of hand. How many women own 2 1/2 cannon? (The 1/2 is because I co-own Goldie, rather than owning her outright.)
