I've been starting to research stoves, now. I started out knowing about as much about the current crop of stoves as I do about current mattresses. Wow, technology has been changing since I last looked at stoves. And good stoves, like good mattresses, are very expensive, I find out. Yeah, you can still get a stove for $350, but it's pretty cheesy.

However, I keep hoping to get a deal like the one on the mattress. I currently have a bid on a VERY good stove on ebay (still in the box, salvage dealer, it looks like)...but quite a bit more than I was originally thinking of spending. But still less than half of what it sells for through standard channels. It even matches the fridge. If I don't get this one, I drop back to plan B, and see what I can find in the upper part of the "low price" range. My problem is that I actually read consumer evaluations, etc. and now know what to steer clear of. And what I probably want. Sigh. I think I've reached the point in my life where I'm realizing quality is a Good Thing, and you tend to get what you pay for.

In short, I like bargains, but it has to be a great deal on something with good quality.
