Scarlet tangiers!

I needed some sanity at lunch, so I took a walk along my "secret trail" along the creek, near here. The trail is mostly overgrown now (all that rain, plus not many folks know of it), and was full of bird and insect life. It's like being in another world, within yelling distance of tech facilities. Something flashed across the trail ahead, full of gorgeous yellow and red plumage. Scarlet tangier! A male. Cool. I can add it to my life-list of birds, I noted. But on my way back, I saw *both* the male and female. They must be nesting along there. Wow!
