Lost the swarm cell

I'm disappointed. I checked the hive where I had returned the swarm cell, this morning, and it had been ripped open and the larvae disposed of. I suspect it was either rejected for having gotten some off odor from being manipulated, or the larvae got chilled, so they decided it was a no-go. I'm hoping they make another one down inside the hive.

So, I removed the piece of branch it was on, and am hoping that they start making another new queen down inside the main hive. Easier not to have a piece of foreign material in there, anyway. Bad enough that they're going to do cross-comb with the pieces of comb that I returned to the hive, but I will deal with those combs when they're established better, later in the season.
