Quaking plates

I notice we got ANOTHER shaker off the Gorda plate, this one a 6.6, last night at 11:30 pm. (Currently, the one on Tuesday seems to have settled into 7.2, after moving both up and down in the ratings.) That plate is definitely MOVING.

However, I object to a headline I saw: "Fourth Major Quake Hits Calif. This Week." Apparently, they're counting a 5.3 (okay, big enough to notice, but not enough to count as anything significant) and the 4.9, which any Californian would class as a second-rate quake, hardly worth ducking under your desk. Please, guys, these quakes are TRIVIAL. It isn't until you hit 6 that you should pay any notice.
