Dancing Thru

Meetings, bloody meetings

I spend my work life in meetings, it seems. I wouldn't mind them so much if they actually accomplished anything. But so far this week, I have spent five hours in company status meetings that have repeated much of the same information, and have several hours of various work meetings tomorrow. I have so many meetings I'm losing track of them all. And they all seem to operate in a mode like the meetings in the John Cleese training film I used for my title.

There was some sort of propaganda piece on the radio about how people really like meetings, even though they complain, because it gets them out of their cubes and offices. If so, that's sad. Of course, with a lot of my meetings, I remain in my cube, plugged into the phone and my terminal in Netmeeting. I am quite sincere when I say that I hate meetings, but I have no choice, because I will glean information somewhere. But you usually have to sift through almost an hour's worth of material to get it...
