The Other Reason I do Civil War
Yes, artillery is nice. Our battlefield, also, green rolling hills dotted with large rockpiles and clumps of oak trees, with narry a trace of so-called civilization, was wonderful. The wildflowers were gorgeous. The battles were good.
But after hours, a few of us shared a couple bottles of good wine, and discussed everything from Aristotle, to Shakespeare, to Medieval religious philosophy, to how Marxism impacted 20th century socialism, at a level that would make a lot of college professors widen their eyes. We Civil War buffs are a well-read lot. Current Mood: cheerful
