Insanity central

I took time out this afternoon to go to a company-sponsored seminar (part 1 of 4) on communication styles and getting things done in the workplace. My boss had been missing for most of the day, so I didn't have a chance to discuss some of the issues that were going down, and I came back to everything about to go critical.

I came back to a complete mess. She had both me and the cmg manager pounce on her as she was trying to leave to go pick up her husband. "Haven't you *READ* your mail?" Let's just say there were a multitude of issues here, ranging from office politics to process, which people were trying to muck with without any understanding. We were both told not to do ANYTHING and she would deal with it in the morning.

I am trying hard to learn from the seminar. I learned in the seminar I'm a type-D, a "just-do-it" results-oriented person, but my boss is an I, who is into image and recognition. Every time I play take-charge and get results, I get in trouble, because it threatens her. I hadn't really figured out why until this afternoon, when I started getting some insights. So even though I think she's scattered (a characteristic of type-I people, apparently), I'm going to *try* to stop being assertive and taking charge and getting things resolved. I'm going to TRY VERY HARD to learn from this seminar. I'm going to TRY not to do my usual thing of resolving the problem but getting in trouble with my manager for bypassing her authority. But it's driving me stark, raving buggy.
