They're redoing a huge amount of my fillings that have started to deteriorate with age. Hmm, two years ago, it was bridgework. Last year, filling redos of 30-year-old fillings. This year, filling redo-redux. We are putting a crown off until next year. They replaced three fillings this morning, and will do four more in two weeks. I'm starting to feel like a horse, where you can tell its age by looking at the teeth. At least I'm getting rid of most of that old silver/mercury amalgam.
The irony is that this is mostly the fallout of a bad bubblegum habit I had as a teenager. By the time I was in my early 20's, I was taking good care of my teeth. But by then, I had 18 fillings. When you're a teen, you never think about how much things will affect you, later in life. You think you're either invulnerable or will die young and leave a good-looking corpse.
