LJ news and degrees of separation

Well, it's always interesting to learn about the death of a friend via Live Journal, by replying to a posting, which gets another reply with some odd comments about someone named "N" and asking privately about that person's identity, and finding out that it is, indeed, a friend one had been out of touch with for a few years (since dropping out of the local pagan circuit). Then, by journal-surfing, one arrives at another friend's entries, whom one didn't know was here, and also get a litany of things that went down, and am enabled to inquire about the welbeing of the surviving spouse.

The degrees of separation here are definitely few.
