Wow, Venus is BRIGHT!

When I saw it on the way home, I thought it must be a plane. It didn't move, though. Seemed to be "celestial" anyway, but what was that bright? I got out the binoculars, and it certainly looked planetish, but it was too high for Venus, or so I thought.

So I got out on space.com to see what was going on. Seems it's really, really close, VERY high in the sky, and will only get brighter as we get toward the end of the month. Quite a magnificent sight! On March 24, it will only be two degrees from the cresent moon.

Apparently this is a good month for viewing all 5 eye-visible planets, including Mercury, which has a high degree of separation from the sun. Wow, this is going to be quite a celestial show!
