More proof that it's getting warmer earlier was the swarm of bees that passed over the Highland Games this Sunday. It may be California, but I have NEVER encountered a swarm this early. But it was very warm very early, so everything was blooming a month early. No beekeeper would be checking for queen cells so early, not expecting a swarm in April.
If I hadn't been far from home, with nothing suitable to box it in, I would have followed the swarm to wherever it touched down and taken it home with me. I've wanted a new hive for a few years, after the wax moths caused my bees to decamp from the old one.
