A wild night's weather

I woke up twice to a sound rather like someone throwing rocks at the window/on the roof. It must have been BIG hail! Circe scrambled to hide in the closet, while Hobbes just decided to get a lot closer to me. (Ming sleeps through everything.) It was the followed by the sound of a deluge. I thought gratefully and groggily that it was good to have a new roof, and briefly wondered what this winter would be like before falling back to sleep.

The "death ray" I had been building for Halloween had fallen over and was lying in the bushes,this morning. A lot of things in the yard looked sorry for themselves, and there was water on the porch in areas that don't normally get wet. Some night.
